Help Ness Lee! Donate Money.

On December - 16 - 2010

In case you haven’t heard, Ness Lee’s apartment building caught fire recently and destroyed pretty much everything in his possession. His vast collection of hats covered in Cocoa Krispies? Gone. It’s a pretty shitty situation all around, compounded more so by the fact that it happened so close to Christmas. Now I’ll never get to know what awesome gifts Ness had in store for me this year.

In all seriousness though, Ness is one of the most humble and respectful people I’ve had the fortune of meeting from our little battle circuit. One would be hard pressed to find a single person who could say anything bad about him (unless you talk to that old person whose car he keyed at Grizzle). It really is a case of, “this couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.” Shit, I’m sure even Ness himself is thinking, “it should have been E.G.”

If you have a little extra cash to throw his way to help him get back on his feet, please send him a donation via Pay Pal by using the button below. I promise I don’t have these donations rerouting to my own Pay Pal account.

After the amount of amazing Ness Lee battles he’s put on for us, it shouldn’t be that big of a deal to lend him a helping hand in a shitty time like this.

Any donation is appreciated, big or small, and will be rewarded with copies of Ness Lee’s entire discography, which is something you should have purchased already. I personally hadn’t bought it, but that’s because I was holding out for a horrific situation to happen to him, forcing him to release his music for donations to recover from personal tragedy. But that’s because I’m a savvy and ruthless businessman who likes to play the odds. Let’s just say I knew a certain 5’5″ battle rapper from Portland, OR who “won’t do nothing!” just might actually do something…

Blood In The Water 2

On March - 10 - 2010

(“My suggestion of “Bruvs Getting Slaughtered” was somehow rejected.”)

I won’t lie and say I know who a lot of these guys are because I don’t, but man, Illmaculate Vs. Eurgh is an excellent matchup. After the UK bruvs lost against Zeale & Phranchyze Wapps & Juce back in 2007 at the NY WRC finals, the chances of them facing off against either Illmaculate or TheSaurus seemed very unlikely. Fortunately, around 3 years later, Eurgh put together the Don’t Flop league which is making these fantasy matchups possible. With Arkaic still slated to battle TheSaurus and now Illmaculate going against Eurgh, the UK scene is contributing loads to the battle community as a whole. Major props to the bruvs across the pond for this.

Eurgh’s performance against Evil was incredibly impressive and definitely hints at the damage he might do to Illmaculate. Illmaculate, fresh off his victory over TheSaurus himself is always a threat and this match will prove to be very competitive.

NoCanDo Vs. Oshea is also going to be amazing, but I personally place NoCan somewhere along the lines of -350/-400 and if the battle were in America it’d be even higher.

I have no clue who Verb T is, but Cruger is probably my favorite of the bruv battle team so I’ll definitely be watching that. Again, props to Eurgh for getting together another slick event and setting up really awesome matches with blokes and yanks.

Alright, first off, the bad news: Chase Moore, who  I was scheduled to battle at the Bridge City Battle 4 event tomorrow in Portland, is almost certainly not showing. He got caught up with some personal issues and had to remain in Sacramento to handle his business and thus could not make the event. It sucks for sure as I was really looking forward to my second attempt at not choking horrendously in a Grind Time battle, but what can you do?

Well, the answer to that question is to prank Reverse Live and leave a ridiculous message on Chase’s voice mail for fun.

Reverse Live Prank:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Explanation: So once I realized that I wasn’t going to get my battle with Chase, I wanted to put together something else, perhaps a 2 on 2 between myself, E.K., Pariah and Evil. Instead of simply asking him that, I somehow decided it’d be funnier to play a joke on him and see how he’d respond. I decided that I’d pretend I forgot all of my lyrics again and try and convince him to help me lie about it and cover it up. Hilarity ensues. I had a difficult time not laughing out loud on a few instances in here, but thankfully didn’t drop the ball.

Chase Moore Voice Mail:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Explanation: So I wasn’t totally satisfied with my successful game with Evil and I decided to fuck with Chase a little bit. I decided I’d talk shit and tell him I heard he’s ducking me cause he heard some of my phenomenal bars and that I wouldn’t battle him at a later date due to bitchassness. And then I recited a ridiculously terrible verse that I wrote in like 8 minutes prior to the phone call.

Bridge City Battle 4

On February - 24 - 2010

Well this should be a fun little event. Unfortunately Engineer Vs. Only One isn’t going down, which really sucks ’cause that definitely would’ve been a barn burner. There’s some nasty matchups on this card and I’m really looking forward to Reverse Live Vs. 9DM. I think it’s one of 9DM’s toughest challenges since Evil can mimic that loud, aggressive, asshole-ish style that 9DM has become accustomed to.

I predict that somewhere in that match, each person will be wished death upon by cancer, AIDS, or perhaps a car wreck which is caused by a pinata filled with hepatitis infected syringes exploding and popping the tires, etc. You know, the usual stuff.

Happy Birthday To MarvWon!

On February - 4 - 2010

(“MarvWon seen here posing behind some dude in a blue coat.’)

MarvWon, the Detroit powerhouse is currently celebrating his day of birth so do him a favor and send your well wishes. And while you’re at it, check out his music video Stomp as it’s excellent.

Massacre Of The Bay Announced

On February - 1 - 2010

Since completing the Battle Of The Bay 5 saga on New Years Eve, Lush One, the Don Bossalino Conglomerato El Pacino himself has been busy working on his next new GTWC mega project. Unfortunately somehow the best name they could come up with was Massacre Of The Bay, but fortunately it is shaping up to be a completely ridiculous event. With incredibly high standards for the selection process of MC’s, this is looking like it will be one of the best Grind Time events ever.

so this is according to lush: day 1 (platnum edition), day 2 mob pt.2

to be part of day 1 required credentials:
to even be considered for a battle on this day u need:

1.100,000+ views on a battle.
2.5 wins or major battle accomplishment(scribble,smack, wrc,brainstorm)
3.best record in league, or top rapper in division
4.be able to rap minumum 2 minute rounds.

^^only 10 battles day 1

this event is aiming to pull the most buzz/views from one event , thats ever happened, alot of sponsers and celebrities in the building.
to be part of day 2
-anyone is able to apply, but the best will be chozen for 15 battles.

day 1 will be 15-20 $ at the door.
day 2 will be free and a gift to the community.

day 2 is expecting to have way morrrre people and is a big event that i will also particapate in along with day 1 after i crucify aresnol,
so day 2 is gonna be a HUGE event with by far the biggest crowd we ever had there will be an estimated 700 people at moss wood park.

day 1 will be located in the traditional place where it always has!!! expectin 650 at least. -Dizaster

Yeah, that sounds pretty nuts. Thanks to Untouchubul, the following list of battlers with 100k views on any single battle has been compiled, narrowing down the matchups. Keep on reading for the good stuff!

Broward Beatdown 2 Recaps

On February - 1 - 2010

The 2nd edition of Grind Time Florida’s Broward Beatdown event went down last night and by all accounts the event was a huge success. For the first time ever, Grind Time streamed some of the battles live from the event. The video is shoddy, but if you’re itching for some new battles you can watch High Collide Vs. Swave Sevah and Farnum go against Roosevelt. Continue reading for breakdowns from Medium Farnum, Rugged and High Collide.

Vote For Sandpeople Video On MTVu!

On August - 27 - 2009

Alright guys, if you don’t know about Sandpeople you should definitely check them out. It’s Illmac’s crew out of Portland with around 10 MCs and they’re all super talented. They’re getting some shine with their new video ‘Hate Aside’ on MTVu but are currently in 2nd place by a small margin.

We need your help to push them over the edge into the number one spot. We know how hard it is for our scene’s battlers to get some mainstream shine so whenever we’re close we need to step up and support the movement!

GTNW – Bridge City Battle III

On August - 27 - 2009

This should definitely be one of the best GTNW events ever. With the last event being shrouded in controversy, fights, and noshows, Illmaculate has certainly worked hard to bring you a much better event the next time around.

9DM, who I believe is one of the best in Grind Time period, is taking on a very serious threat in Ex-I. Ex-I’s last showing against Real Deal wasn’t his best and you can bet your girlfriend’s dignity that he’ll be coming for vengeance in this one (total freeroll if your girl doesn’t have any dignity to begin with. Gamble up!)

The co-main event is another heater between the official Grind Time producer Chase Moore and local Northwest battle veteran Mic Phenom. Mic Phenom is coming off a recent loss to Kid Caustic at Battle Of The Bay 4 and fumbled a bit in one of his rounds. He’s proven capable of breezing through battles with his sharp freestyle skills, but hopefully he won’t need those in this match.

H-Bomb really displayed his range of skills by attacking F.L.O. from a unique angle involving wordplay about his name. Only One is Illmac’s partner in rhyme and an absolute beast on recorded tracks. If you haven’t checked out their album by now, do yourself a serious favor and buy it. Police Brutality was one of my favorite releases in a long time and you’re fucking yourself over by not copping it. This battle will be heat.

The rest of the lineup shows promise as well, but I don’t know enough about the competitors to write anything useful about them. I will say that I laughed at the fact there are 3 Mic ?’s in the lineup lol. Hopefully nobody gets mixed up with each other.

What are your predictions?
